Lacrosse Welcomes #4 Yale For Big In-State Showdown
STORRS, Conn.- The 25th ranked UConn women's lacrosse team will face their toughest test yet Wednesday afternoon, welcoming the undefeated Yale Bulldogs, who are ranked 4th in the nation. The Huskies have won their first two contests in March, moving their 2025 season record to 5-2 overall. Behind a first-half scoring outburst and five goals from Rayea Davis (Henrietta, N.Y.), UConn secured a comfortable road victory last Saturday, defeating University at Albany 15-4 in a contest they controlled from start to finish.
Davis has continued her torrid scoring pace in 2025, scoring 24 goals in UConn's first seven games of the season. The redshirt junior attacker is within striking distance of 100 career goals, with Saturday's performance moving her to 96 on her career. Jenna Giardina (South Salem, N.Y) continued her multi-point streak to start the season, adding two goals and two assists in the win. Meghan Lane (Wilton, Conn.) achieved a milestone of her own, securing her 250th draw control, with six on the afternoon to lead the Huskies. Tori Cini (Syosset, N.Y.) anchored UConn in goal, making eight saves to secure the win. Riley Daly (Ipswich, Mass.) has continued her strong play on the defensive end as well, with five draw controls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
No. 4 Yale Snapshot (6-0):
The Bulldogs roll into Storrs undefeated on the season, ranked fourth in the nation. Last Saturday, Yale kicked off Ivy League play with a resounding victory over Columbia with a 17-6 win. Sky Carrasquillo and Jenna Collignon each tallied hat tricks in the first quarter, part of the eight goals that the Bulldogs scored in the opening period alone. Carrasquillo leads Yale with 22 goals and 27 draw controls. Fallon Vaughn scored four goals in the win last Saturday to lead Yale. Vaughn has produced at both ends this season, with 12 goals and 8 assists, to go along with a team-leading 14 caused turnovers and 14 ground balls.
Yale is led by 2024 Ivy League Coach of the Year Erica Bamford. Bamford led the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament last season after winning the Ivy League crown, going undefeated in league games (7-0).
All-Time Series: Yale has had the upper hand in the series between these two Connecticut foes, leading the matchup 11-2 in the all-time series. Last season, Yale defeated the Huskies 17-6 in New Haven.
