Lacrosse Hits the Road to Face Columbia Wednesday Afternoon
STORRS, Conn.- UConn lacrosse (5-3) is back in action Wednesday afternoon, looking to bounce back after a home defeat against No.7 Yale. The Huskies will travel to New York, NY for another Ivy League Matchup, facing off against the Columbia University Lions at 3pm.
Rayea Davis (Henrietta, N.Y.) scored her 100th career goal in the loss to Yale, becoming the 13th Husky in program history to achieve that accomplishment. Jenna Giardina's (South Salem, N.Y.) multi-point streak continued despite the defeat, adding a goal and two assists last week. Riley Daly (Ipswich, Mass.) continues to close in on another UConn milestone, sitting at 94 career draw controls, needing only six more to cross the 100 draw control threshold.
Columbia Snapshot (3-4):
Columbia welcomes the Huskies to town after a narrow defeat to another BIG EAST opponent, falling to Villanova on the road 12-8 last Saturday. The Lions are led by Dani Falcone, a 2024 Second Team All-Ivy selection. Falcone leads the team with 22 points, and has stuffed the stat sheet across the board, with 14 draw controls, 13 caused turnovers, and 12 ground balls. Cecilia Messner joins Falcone on the attack for Columbia, with a team-leading 14 goals, part of her 21 points on the season. Ava Kimche has started in goal for the Lions, securing two wins in 2025 with 46 saves at a .495 save percentage on the season.
The Lions are 3-4 on the season, with wins at Monmouth and Lehigh, securing the first home victory on 3/5 against Marist. UConn leads the all-time series with Columbia 6-2, picking up a 17-1 victory in their last meeting a year ago.
