Huskies Prep for a Weekend on the Road

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 8 ranked UConn women's hockey team goes on the road this weekend. The Huskies will play at Providence on Friday, October 18 at 2:00pm. UConn will then go to Harvard on Saturday, October 19. Puck drop is set for 6:00pm. 

The Huskies (3-3) are coming off a weekend sweep of New Hampshire, starting Hockey East play 2-0 for the first time since 2021-22. 

UConn's leading point scorers this season are Jada Habisch, Ava Rinker, and Claire Murdoch who each have six points. Habisch has two goals, and four assists so far this season. The graduate student team captain recorded a two goal game at UNH this past week, giving her eight career multi-goal games. Rinker has led the Huskies defense this season, tallying six assists. Murdoch, a freshman forward, leads the Huskies with three goals this season. The Toronto, Ontario native was recently named Hockey East Player of the Week, as she tallied five points in the weekend series against UNH. 

Providence (4-2) is coming off a top ten win over Quinnipiac on Tuesday. The Friars are coached by Matt Kelly, in his sixth season. Providence is led by senior forward Hannah Johnson with seven points this season.  

Harvard opens their 2024-25 schedule with the Huskies on Saturday. The Crimson are coached by Laura Bellamy, in her second season. Harvard returns their leading point scorer from a season ago in Gwyn Lapp (15).
