Huskies Set to Open 24-25 Season Against No. 2/3 Minnesota

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team is set to kick off their 2024-25 season at home in a two game series with No. 2/3 Minnesota beginning on Friday, September 27. Tickets are available HERE.

The Huskies are coming off an historical 25 win season a year ago, winning the Hockey East regular season and tournament crown, earning a bid into the NCAA Tournament, all for the first time in program history. Head coach Chris MacKenzie returns much of his roster from a season ago, including All-Conference selections Tia ChanJada Habisch, and Ashley Allard. UConn also welcomes an incoming class of five freshmen and a grad transfer, Sophie Robinson from Dartmouth.

The Huskies return most of their offensive firepower from a season ago. Habisch once again looks to be one of the Huskies top goal scorers, while sophomore Ashley Allard looks to build off a successful rookie season. Picked to finish first in the Hockey East preseason poll, the Huskies will look to repeat as Hockey East champions.

Scouting Minnesota

UConn and Minnesota have faced off a total of three times as the Huskies are winless against the Golden Gophers. The Huskies played a two game series at Minnesota last year, losing both games by two goals in each game. Minnesota is led by redshirt senior Abbey Murphy who was a top ten finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award a season ago.

Puck drop between the Huskies and Golden Gophers is set for 6:00pm on Friday, September 27, and 3:00pm on Saturday, September 28. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
