Huskies Shut Out Maine
STORRS, Conn. – The No. 15 ranked UConn women's hockey team defeated the Maine Black Bears, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. The Huskies win the season series with Maine, going 2-0-1 against the Black Bears.
Senior goaltender Tia Chan was sensational, making 33 saves in the win, earning her third shutout this season.
UConn opened the scoring on the power play midway through the first period as senior forward Riley Grimley netted his third goal of the season.
UConn went into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead as shots favored the Huskies, 17-8 in the first period.
Junior forward Megan Woodworth doubled the Huskies lead midway through the second period, tallying her third goal of the season.
UConn took a 2-0 lead into the second intermission with shots favoring Maine in the second period, 14-10.
Sophomore forward Livvy Dewar sealed the win, scoring her second goal of the season five minutes into the third period, making it 3-0.
Chan continued to thwart the Maine attack as she made 11 saves in the final 15 minutes.
