Huskies Hit the Road to Close out The First Half of the Season
STORRS, Conn. – The No. 15 ranked UConn women's hockey team has a two game road trip this weekend. The Huskies first head to New Hampshire on Friday, December 6 for their third matchup with the Wildcats this season. UConn then heads to Maine on Saturday, December 7 to close out the first half of the season.
UConn is coming off a 4-2 win over Sacred Heart last weekend and are winners in four of their last six games. The Huskies have been led by a pair of forwards in Claire Murdoch (Toronto, Ontario) and Ashley Allard (Ottawa, Ontario). Murdoch leads the Huskies in points this season with 13. Allard has heated up in the month of November scoring a team high five goals in her past ten games. The sophomore is second on the team with ten points this season.
Scouting New Hampshire:
UNH (10-7-1) is coming off a 2-0 loss to Northeastern on Wednesday, but are winners in four of their last six games. UConn swept the Wildcats in the home-and-home series earlier this season. The Wildcats are coached by Hilary Witt in her tenth season. UNH is led by graduate student forward Chavonne Truter with a team high eleven points this season. The Wildcats have had success on the power play this season, ranking atop the conference in power play goals (8) and power play percentage (0.216). UNH leads the all-time series 46-27-5.
Scouting Maine:
Maine (3-14) is coming off back to back losses to No. 1 ranked Wisconsin last weekend. The Black Bears are coached by Molly Engstrom in her third season. Maine is led by senior forward Alyssa Wruble with a team high eight points this season. UConn won all three games against Maine last season and lead the all-time series 42-20-9.
Puck drop is set for 6:00pm on Friday and 7:00pm on Saturday. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
