FH Falls to ODU on Senior Day
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn field hockey team (5-13, 2-5 BIG EAST) fell to ODU at home on Friday afternoon on Senior Day.
It was a busy first period, with UConn getting on the board first on a solo goal from sophomore, Julia Bressler early into the game. The Huskies scored again quickly after on a tip into the net by Julianna Kratz on a pass from Sol Simone. ODU cut the lead to one with a goal of their own as the final minutes ticked down. UConn outshot ODU 9-4 in the first quarter. The game remained 2-1 as the teams headed into halftime after a scoreless second period.
The game stayed at 2-1 through the third period. ODU tied it up with less than 2:00 minutes to go on the game after being awarded a penalty stroke. The 2-2 game was forced into an overtime period where ODU notched one into the back of the net to seal their victory.
The UConn offense was led by Sanne Stout, who had four shots on the day. Julia Bressler and Madi Herb each had two for the Huskies. Freshman goalkeeper, Natalie McKenna, made 12 saves in the loss, setting a career and season high.
This was the final game of UConn's 2023 season. Thank you to all our family, friends, and fans who supported us this year!
