FH Falls to No.12 BC on the Road
NEWTON, Mass. – The UConn field hockey team (5-10, 2-3 BIG EAST) fell to No.12 Boston College on the road on Sunday afternoon.
The game opened with a scoreless first quarter as the Huskies and the Eagles battled it out in the midfield. Boston College was awarded two penalty corners during the first 15 minutes of play but were stopped by a strong UConn defense. The first goal of the game came early in the second period, as the Boston College captain notched their first point of the game. The teams were sent into halftime with a 1-0 score.
After two goals from the Eagles in the third quarter, to make the game 3-0, the Huskies scored a goal on a penalty corner attempt. The ball was shot by freshman Sanne Stout from the top of the circle and then tipped into the net by Sol Simone. This was Simone's second goal of the weekend and fifth on the season.
As the fourth quarter got underway, the Eagles notched their fourth and final goal of the game to solidify their win. The Huskies outshot their opponent today, 16-12, and were awarded a total of four penalty corners, one of which ended in a goal.
The Huskies will head to Virginia and North Carolina next week to take on a pair of top-10 teams in No.7 Liberty and No.2 Duke.
