Huskies Kick off 2024 Season With Pair of Home Games
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's field hockey team is set to kick off their 2024 campaign with a pair of home games against Saint Joseph's on Friday afternoon and the University of New Hampshire Sunday afternoon.
Picked third in the BIG EAST coaches' pre-season poll, the Huskies are looking for a bounce back year after being plagued with injuries. In addition to being picked third, junior Sol Simone was named to the Pre-season All-Big East Team.
The Huskies are set to take on no.13 Saint Joseph's Hawks in their season opener. The two teams faced off in the 2023 season opener which ended with a 2-0 loss. The Hawks finished the 2023 campaign with a 16-5 overall record and their third Atlantic 10 championship. This will be the second ever matchup between the two teams, and first matchup in Storrs.
The Huskies will close out their first homestand with a matchup against the New Hampshire Wildcats on Sunday at 3pm. The last time these two teams faced off was 2015 where UConn came away with a 5-0 victory. The Wildcats are coming off a 12-7 overall record.
