No. 7 UConn Breezes Past Xavier
HARTFORD, Conn. – Graduate student Azzi Fudd scored a season-high 23 points to lead the No. 7 UConn women's basketball team (14-2, 5-0 BIG EAST) past Xavier (5-10, 0-4), 81-27, Wednesday evening in the XL Center.
Fudd shot 9-for-14 from the field and added two rebounds and three steals.
Freshman Sarah Strong continued her streak of scoring in double digits in each game this season, notching 15 on 7-10 shooting with seven rebounds and five steals.
Freshman Allie Ziebell came off the bench to score a personal-best 17 points. She shot 5-for-9 from three-point range and scored 15 of her points in the second half.
The Huskies scored 42 points off turnovers and had 36 paint points.
UConn dominated the whole game, holding the Musketeers to single digits in three quarters. The Huskies took a 45-10 lead into halftime.
UConn is back in action at Georgetown (8-7, 1-3) this Saturday at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. The teams will tipoff at 4 p.m. on SNY. The teams previously faced off on Dec. 15 in Hartford, a 79-44 win for UConn.
