Bueckers Named Lieberman Award Candidate
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UConn women's basketball redshirt senior Paige Bueckers was selected as a top 10 candidate for the 2025 Nancy Lieberman Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Monday.
In its 26th year, the Nancy Lieberman Award recognizes the top point guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. To be considered for this prestigious award, candidates must exhibit the floor leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills of Class of 1996 Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman.
Bueckers leads the No. 6 Huskies this season with 19.0 points and 4.2 assists per game. She ranks seventh nationally with a 3.26 assist-turnover ratio.
The Hopkins, Minn., native has scored 20+ points in 11 games this season. One of the most efficient guards in the nation, Bueckers is averaging a .544/.524/.847 shooting split while playing 28.7 minutes per game.
Against top-25 opponents this season, Bueckers is averaging 22.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
Bueckers became the first freshman to win the Lieberman Award in 2021.

In March, the list will be narrowed to five finalists with winners selected at the end of March.
Five Huskies have won the Lieberman Award nine times: Bueckers (2021), Moriah Jefferson (2015, '16), Renee Montgomery (2009), Diana Taurasi (2003, '04) and Sue Bird (2000, '01, '02).
