Strong Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for Sixth Time

STORRS, Conn. – For the sixth time this season, UConn women's basketball forward Sarah Strong was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league Monday.

Strong averaged 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game in two wins last week.

Against Xavier, Strong scored 15 points and added seven rebounds and five steals. In a win over Georgetown, she notched 16 points, nine rebounds and three steals and tied her personal best with six assists.

Strong has scored in double digits in all 17 games this season. She leads the Huskies in rebounding, blocks and steals and is second in scoring and assists.

Graduate student Azzi Fudd was named to the weekly honor roll after averaging 22.0 points per game and shooting 63.0 percent from the floor and 61.5 percent from three.

Sixth-ranked UConn is back on the road at St. John's (11-5, 1-4) this Wednesday at 7 p.m. on SNY.
