Bueckers Named CSC First Team Academic All-America
AUSTIN, Texas – UConn women's basketball redshirt junior Paige Bueckers was named a 2023-24 College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American the organization announced Tuesday.
Bueckers holds a 3.497 cumulative grade point average. She has been named to the UConn Dean's list four times and is a six-time member of the Director of Athletics' Honor Roll. Bueckers earned a 3.930 GPA in Fall 2023.
Bueckers is the 2023-24 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
After missing the 2022-23 season to injury, Bueckers returned in impressive fashion in 2023-24. She was named a WBCA, USBWA and Wooden Award First Team All-American. The Hopkins, Minn., native was tabbed the BIG EAST Player of the Year, BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player, NCAA Tournament Portland Region 3 Most Outstanding Player and NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team.
Bueckers led UConn with a career-high 21.9 points per game and 53 blocks this season. She also tallied career highs with 5.2 rebounds per game and 86 steals. Bueckers was one of the most efficient guards nationally, holding a .530/.416/.834 shooting split.
Off the court, Bueckers' efforts have been just as impressive. She provided funding to Hopkins West Junior High School grocery store which will provide groceries for 50 families in need, she has donated funding to the UConn Foundation to go towards food insecurity, including providing food and supplies to the Husky Harvest Food Pantry, and she partnered with Gatorade to provide equipment and uniforms to the Hartford Hurricanes, a youth sports program which includes a newly founded girls basketball team.
Bueckers is a Mamba and Mambacita Foundation Youth Coach and has participated in numerous volunteer events, such as classroom reading, turkey drives and Connecticut Children's Hospital visits.
Bueckers will earn a bachelor's degree in human development & family sciences next month.
