No. 7 UConn Beats Providence in Final Game of 2024

HARTFORD, Conn. – Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers scored 23 points to lead the seventh-ranked UConn women's basketball team (11-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) past Providence (7-8, 0-2), 67-41, Sunday afternoon in the XL Center.

Bueckers shot 66.7 percent from the field and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line. She added four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Freshman Sarah Strong has scored in double digits in every game of her college career, notching 14 vs. the Friars.

Redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy made her first career start while graduate student Azzi Fudd returned to the starting lineup against Providence.

Sophomores KK Arnold and Ashlynn Shade each notched four steals as UConn forced 31 Providence turnovers. UConn scored 40 points off turnovers.

UConn is back in action on New Year's Day at Marquette (9-3, 1-0) at 2 p.m. ET on SNY.
