No. 6 UConn Takes on Creighton Saturday
STORRS, Conn. – The sixth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (18-2, 9-0 BIG EAST) faces Creighton (16-3, 8-0) for first place in the BIG EAST Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET in the CHI Health Center Omaha. The game will air on FOX and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
UConn beat Villanova, 100-57, on Wednesday in a sold-out Gampel Pavilion. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers had a dominant performance vs. the Wildcats, notching 21 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and three steals in 26 minutes. Freshman Sarah Strong led UConn with 22 points while graduate student Kaitlyn Chen scored 17, her most as a Husky.
Creighton moved to 8-0 in BIG EAST play with a 63-52 win over Butler on Wednesday. This season, Morgan Maly leads the Bluejays with 17.9 points per game while Lauren Jensen is averaging 17.7 per game. Head coach Jim Flanery is in his 23rd season at Creighton.
UConn is 9-0 all-time vs. Creighton. Only two games between the teams have been decided by fewer than 10 points. UConn has beat Creighton by an average margin of +24.4.
This is the first time UConn will face Creighton in the CHI Health Center Omaha.
