No. 7 UConn Begins 2025 With Win at Marquette
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Four Huskies scored in double digits as the No. 7 UConn women's basketball team (12-3, 3-0 BIG EAST) beat Marquette (9-4, 1-1) Wednesday afternoon in Al McGuire Center.
Freshman Sarah Strong led the Huskies with 15 rebounds and seven rebounds. Sophomore KK Arnold, a native of Germantown, Wis., scored a season-high 13 points and tied her career high with seven assists.
Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers (12) and redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy (10) also scored in double digits.
UConn scored 19 fastbreak points and 15 points off turnovers. The Huskies assisted on 22 of 28 made field goals.
Freshman Allie Ziebell, a native of Neenah, Wis., scored UConn's final five points in the game.
The Huskies held the Golden Eagles to eight points in both the second and fourth quarters.
The Huskies are back in action at Villanova (7-6, 1-0) this Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The game will air on SNY.
