No. 4 UConn to Host No. 7 USC in Saturday Showdown
STORRS, Conn. – The No. 4 UConn women's basketball team (10-1) hosts No. 7 USC (10-1) in a rematch of the 2024 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight on Saturday in a sold-out XL Center at 8 p.m. The game will air on FOX and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
Saturday's top-10 showdown is a WHITE OUT in XL. All fans coming to the game are encouraged to wear white. Every fan in attendance will receive a white rally towel courtesy of Madison Reed.
UConn is coming off a 101-68 win over Iowa State in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase on Tuesday. UConn set a program record for made three pointers with 20 vs. the Cyclones.
Freshman Sarah Strong scored a personal-best 29 points with five three pointers and added nine rebounds and four assists as she was named the game's MVP. Strong, sophomore Ashlynn Shade and redshirt senior Paige Bueckers combined for 83 points vs. Iowa State.
UConn is 3-0 all-time vs. Southern California. The teams last met in the 2024 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight when No. 3-seed UConn upset No. 1-seed USC, 80-73. Bueckers had 28 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, two blocks and three steals vs. the Trojans.
USC assistant coach Willnett Crockett is a 2006 graduate of UConn and won the 2003 and 2004 NCAA Championships with the Huskies.
USC is coming off an 88-30 win over Elon last Sunday. The Trojans are led by phenom JuJu Watkins, who ranks third nationally with 24.7 points per game. Head coach Lindsay Gottlieb is in her fourth season at USC.
