Sarah Strong Leads USA to FIBA U18 World Cup Gold
DEBRECEN, Hungary – UConn women's basketball freshman Sarah Strong led the United State U18 3x3 team to the gold medal at the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup 2024.
The U.S. went 7-0 in the tournament and beat Japan on Friday for the gold. Strong was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
This is Strong's third straight gold medal at the 3x3 U18 World Cup. It marks the sixth consecutive and eighth overall 3x3 U18 World Cup title for the American women.
Outside of a 21-19 decision in the title game, the U.S.'s smallest margin of victory was six points.
Strong is the No. 1-ranked recruit in the Class of 2024. She was named the 2024 Naismith High School Player of the Year and was selected as a McDonald's, Naismith, SLAM and Jordan Brand All-American. She also earned 2023 and '24 North Carolina Miss Basketball and Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year honors.
