No. 2 Huskies to Host FDU for Geno & CD’s Ruby Anniversary
STORRS, Conn. – The No. 2 UConn women's basketball team (3-0) will honor the 40th season of head coach Geno Auriemma and associate head coach Chris Dailey when the Huskies host FDU (4-1) Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
UConn will celebrate Auriemma and Dailey with a brief pregame ceremony. Fans attending the game should plan on being in their seats by 6:30 p.m. for the ceremony. The ceremony will air on SNY for fans in SNY's market. It will also stream at uconnplus.tv and on the UConn women's basketball team's Facebook and X pages.
More than 60 alums who played for Auriemma and Dailey will attend the game.
Auriemma is currently at 1,216 career wins, tied with Tara VanDerveer for the college basketball record.
The Huskies are coming off their first ranked win of the season, a 69-58 victory over No. 14 North Carolina. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers scored a season-high 29 points on 57.1% shooting. She added four rebounds, four assists and two steals and had no turnovers.
Strong had her first career double-double vs. the Tar Heels. She notched 14 points and had personal bests with 13 rebounds, six assists and five blocks.
Bueckers and Strong were named the BIG EAST Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively, for their performances.
The UConn Dairy Bar is featuring three specials in honor of Geno and CD for the month of November. Fans can try Legend-Berry Legacy ice cream at both the Dairy Bar and Gampel games, as well as Geno's Champion-Chip Sundae and CD's Peanut Butter Dream milkshake.
Fans can tune into Setting the Standard, a five-part docuseries that tells the story of Auriemma and Dailey's 40 years at UConn. All episodes are available to stream now at UConnPlus.tv.
UConn is 1-0 all-time vs. FDU.
FDU fell at Syracuse, 77-58, on Sunday. This season, Ava Renninger leads the Knights with 14.6 points per game. FDU was picked first in the NEC preseason poll. Head coach Stephanie Gaitley is in her second season at FDU and 40th season as a head coach.
