No. 5 UConn Travels to Seton Hall Wednesday
STORRS, Conn. – The fifth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (24-3, 14-0 BIG EAST) takes on Seton Hall (18-7, 10-4) in Walsh Gymnasium on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
The Huskies had their most complete game of the season in an 87-58 win at No. 4 South Carolina on Sunday. Graduate student Azzi Fudd led the Huskies with 28 points, scoring 18 points in the third quarter. Freshman Sarah Strong had her sixth double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers had her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 assists.
Fudd was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, the Naismith Award Player of the Week and a USBWA Player of the Week after averaging 31.0 points per game in two wins last week.
UConn is 60-10 all-time vs. Seton Hall. The Huskies have won the last 40 meetings between the teams.
The Huskies beat the Pirates, 96-36, in Gampel Pavilion on Jan. 19. Strong led UConn with 23 points and 11 rebounds in the game.
Seton Hall is coming off a 59-38 win at Providence last Sunday. This season, Faith Masonius leads the Pirates with 15.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Head coach Anthony Bozzella is in his 12th season at Seton Hall.
