Edwards, Mühl to Attend WNBA Draft Monday
NEW YORK – UConn women's basketball seniors Aaliyah Edwards and Nika Mühl will find out where they begin their professional careers at the 2024 WNBA Draft on Monday at 7:30 p.m. The draft will air on ESPN.
Edwards and Mühl will both attend the WNBA Draft at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
UConn has had 45 WNBA college draft selections since the league's inception in 1997. The Huskies have had 26 first-round picks in the league's history, which is the most of any collegiate program. This season is potentially the 16th time multiple Huskies will be taken in the same draft.
Sixteen former Huskies were on WNBA rosters last season.
In their four seasons in Storrs, Edwards and Mühl helped lead UConn to three Final Four appearances, a National Championship game appearance and eight BIG EAST championships.
Edwards compiled 1,861 points and 1,020 rebounds in her UConn career. She ranks 15th in the UConn record books in career points, eighth in career rebounds and sixth in career double-doubles (35). She was just the sixth Husky all-time to reach 1,800 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Edwards was selected as a 2024 WBCA All-American and unanimously All-BIG EAST. She was the 2023 BIG EAST Most Improved Player and 2021 BIG EAST Sixth-Woman of the Year.
A native of Kingston, Ontario, Edwards will graduate with a bachelor's degree in communication in May. Edwards can become the 19th Canadian all-time to compete in the WNBA.
Mühl holds UConn's career (686), single-season (284) and single-game (15) assist records. She recorded double-digit assists in 17 games, the most for a Husky. Mühl also compiled 764 points and 453 rebounds at UConn.
Mühl is a two-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. She was also twice named an AP Honorable Mention All-American and All-BIG EAST Second Team.
A native of Zagreb, Croatia, Mühl will graduate with a bachelor's degree in psychological sciences in May. Mühl can become the fourth Croatian-born player to compete in the WNBA.
