No. 6 Huskies Travel to DePaul Wednesday
STORRS, Conn. – The sixth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (19-2, 10-0 BIG EAST) takes on DePaul (11-11, 6-3) Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET in Wintrust Arena. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
UConn beat Creighton, 72-61, to move into sole possession of first place in the BIG EAST last Sunday. Freshman Sarah Strong had her fifth double-double of the season to lead the Huskies. Strong finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds, four blocks and five steals. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers scored 22 points and added five rebounds and four assists.
Strong was named both the BIG EAST Player and Freshman of the Week for the third time this season on Monday. She led the Huskies to two wins last week while averaging 24.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 blocks and 3.5 steals per game on a .630/.500/.923 shooting split.
UConn is 25-1 all-time vs. DePaul and the Huskies have won the last 25 meetings between the teams.
DePaul has won its last two games and is coming off a 74-67 win over Butler last Sunday. This season, Jorie Allen leads DePaul with 19.5 points per game. Head coach Doug Bruno is in his 39th season at DePaul. Jill M. Pizzotti is serving as interim head coach.
UConn return to the XL Center this Sunday to host Butler at 1 p.m.
