No. 6 Huskies Travel to St. John’s Wednesday
STORRS, Conn. – The sixth-ranked UConn women's basketball team 915-2, 6-0 BIG EAST) takes on St. John's (11-5, 1-4) Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Carnesecca Arena. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
Graduate student Azzi Fudd scored 21 points and had five three pointers to lead UConn past Georgetown, 73--55, last Saturday in Washington, D.C. Fudd scored 12 points in the second half and went 4-6 from three. Freshman Sarah Strong had 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Strong was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday for the sixth time this season. Strong averaged 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game in two wins last week.
The Huskies are 49-18 all-time vs. St. John's. This is UConn's first time playing in Carnesecca Arena since the 2021-22 season.
St. John's is coming off a 60-39 win over Xavier last Saturday. This season, Lashae Dwyer leads the Red Storm with 14.7 points per game. Head coach Joe Tartamella is in his 13th season at St. John's.
The Huskies return to Gampel Pavilion this Sunday for the first time since Dec. 3 to host Seton Hall. Limited tickets remain HERE.
