Fudd Named BIG EAST Player of the Week
STORRS, Conn. – After leading the UConn women's basketball team to a pair of wins, graduate student Azzi Fudd was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday.
Fudd averaged 31.0 points per game last week on a .545.583 shooting split.
Against St. John's, Fudd set a career high with 34 points and eight three pointers. She shot 13-22 from the field and 8-14 from three against the Red Storm and added two steals.
In a win over then-No. 4 South Carolina, Fudd scored 28 points while shooting 50 percent from the field and 6-for-10 from three. She also grabbed a season-high five rebounds.
In UConn's last five games, Fudd is averaging 20.4 points per game and shooting 63.2 percent from three.
Fudd currently ranks third nationally with a 48.2 three-point field goal percentage.
Freshman Sarah Strong was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
No. 5 UConn is back on the road at Seton Hall (18-7, 10-4 BIG EAST) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on SNY.
