UConn to Celebrate Geno Auriemma & Chris Dailey’s 40th Season
STORRS, Conn. – Since arriving to the University of Connecticut in 1985, Geno Auriemma and Chris Dailey have redefined success and built an unmatched dynasty with the UConn women's basketball program.
UConn Athletics will celebrate Auriemma and Dailey's 40th season in Storrs in 2024-25 and honor their legacies and major milestones with several initiatives throughout the year.
The Huskies' primary celebration will take place during UConn's game vs. Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Gampel Pavilion. All student-athletes who played for Auriemma and Dailey are invited back to campus as the program celebrates their four decades of their success.
Additional promotions, giveaways and announcements will be released throughout the season.
Since arriving on campus in summer 1985, Auriemma and Dailey have taken a program with just one previous winning season to the gold standard of the sport. The pair have led UConn to 11 NCAA Championships, competed in 23 NCAA Final Fours, completed six perfect seasons and won 59 conference championships.
The Huskies have competed in every NCAA Tournament since 1989, when the team won its first BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles.
A 2006 inductee to both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, Auriemma currently ranks second in Division I college basketball history with 1,213 career wins, just behind recently retired Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer (1,216).
Dailey was one of the first assistant coaches to earn a spot in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.
