Fudd Leads No. 7 UConn to Dominant Win at No. 4 South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Graduate student Azzi Fudd scored 28 points to lead the No. 7 UConn women's basketball team (24-3) to an 87-58 win at No. 4 South Carolina (23-3) Sunday afternoon.

Fudd scored 23 points in the second half, including 18 in the third quarter. She shot 6-for-10 from three-point range.

Freshman Sarah Strong had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers had her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 assists while adding seven rebounds.

The Huskies were aggressive from opening tip. After South Carolina took an 11-9 lead, UConn went on a 22-3 run and took a 45-23 lead at halftime.

The Huskies outrebounded the Gamecocks 48-29. South Carolina came into the game ranked eighth nationally with 42.9 rebounds per game.

UConn's victory snapped South Carolina's 71-game home win streak, which dated back to Dec. 3, 2002.

UConn is back on the road at Seton Hall (17-8, 9-5 BIG EAST) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on SNY.
