No. 5 Huskies Travel to Providence Sunday

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 5 UConn women's basketball team (21-3, 12-0 BIG EAST) travels to New England rival Providence (10-15, 3-9) Sunday at noon in Amica Mutual Pavilion. The game will air on CBS Sports Network and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).

UConn lost to No. 19 Tennessee, 80-76, on Thursday. Freshman Sarah Strong led the Huskies with 18 points and nine rebounds.

The Huskies are 49-21 all-time vs. the Friars. UConn has won the last 37 meetings between the teams. Providence assistant coach Kaili McLaren is a 2010 graduate of UConn and won the 2009 and '10 NCAA Championships with the Huskies.

This is the second meeting between the Huskies and Friars this season. On Dec. 29, redshirt senior Paige Bueckers scored 23 points to lead UConn to a 67-41 win in Hartford.

Providence beat DePaul, 76-63, on Thursday. This season, Grace Efosa leads the Friars with 14.1 points per game. Head coach Erin Batth is in her second season at Providence.

The Huskies return to Gampel Pavilion on Wednesday to host St. John's. Limited tickets remain HERE.
