Bats Stay Hot For HookC in 14-3 Win vs. Hofstra

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (22-18) won its second-straight game via run-rule after a 14-3 victory in seven innings against Hofstra, 14-3, on Wednesday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.

The Huskies scored a season-high 10 runs in the bottom of the second to take a commanding 10-3 lead.

Maddix Dalena had an RBI single and a two-run homer in the 13 batter inning while Korey Morton grabbed a pair of hits including a two-run single. 

Caleb Shpur smacked an RBI single in the frame that extended his team-leading hit streak to 14 games and his on-base streak to 19 in a row. 

After Garrett Coe pitched three innings with three unearned runs allowed, the UConn bullpen was superb.

Five pitchers combined to throw four innings of two-hit ball with no runs and no walks allowed. 

It was the first game this season that the Huskies did not issue a walk. 

Next up, the Huskies stay home to play a three-game series against Villanova with game times of 6:05 p.m. on Friday, 2:05 p.m. on Saturday and 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
