HookC Sweeps UNCG, Wins Fourth-Straight

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UConn baseball team (10-11) rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win 6-4 against UNC Greensboro (10-12) on Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.

The victory is the fourth-straight for the Huskies and secured the first sweep of the season for the Huskies. 

Trailing 4-0 heading into the fifth inning, Caleb Shpur beat out a ground ball that looked to be an inning-ending double play but the UConn centerfielder beat the throw to first to get a run on the board.

Tyler Minick brought the Huskies a run closer with an RBI double in the sixth.

In the seventh, the Huskies posted a four-spot to take their first lead of the day. Pinch-hitter Gabriel Tirado smoked his first career hit, an RBI double to make it a one-run game. 

Beau Root put UConn ahead with a two-run single to make it a 5-4 game. Sam Biller tacked on and RBI single in the frame.

The UConn bullpen posted 4.2 shutout innings with Sean Finn pitching 2.0 shutout innings including an immaculate inning in the sixth.

Greg Shaw earned his first save by recording the final six outs. 

Next up, the Huskies face Boston College on Tuesday, March 25 at 3:05 p.m.
