BSB Travels to First Place Georgetown

TYSONS, Va. - The UConn baseball team (17-18, 4-2 BIG EAST) hits the road this weekend to take on the first place Georgetown Hoyas (26-10, 8-1 BIG EAST) at Capital One Ballpark. The series opens on Friday, April 19 at 6 pm and continues on Saturday at 4 p.m. and wraps up on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. All three games will be streamed on muscovision (subscription) and also on MIXLR. 

The Huskies have won eight of their last 11 games, the best stretch of baseball UConn has played this season. The Huskies have won each of their first two BIG EAST series by winning two-of-three against Xavier and St. John's at Elliot Ballpark. This weekend marks the first BIG EAST road series of the year for the Huskies. 

Luke Broadhurst and Maddix Dalena pace the UConn offense with eight home runs on the year, while Korey Morton (42) and Paul Tammaro (41) have the most hits on the team. 

RHP Ian Cooke returns to the starting rotation this weekend after earning BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week accolades. The New Milford, Conn. native earned a victory out of the bullpen against St. John's with 7.2 shutout innings. The junior struck out a career-high 14 in his outing. 

UConn leads the BIG EAST Conference by fielding at a .977 clip while also pacing the conference in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.06) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.6). 

Caleb Shpur has reached base in a season-high 14 games entering this weekend and is third in the BIG EAST with 12 stolen bases.
