UConn's Van Der Els Closes Cross Country Season at NCAA Championship
STILLWATER, Okla. - UConn senior Eric Van Der Els (Norwalk, Conn.) wrapped up the 2021 cross country season on Monday competing in the NCAA Championship race in Stillwater, Oklahoma and hosted by Oklahoma State University.
Van Der Els finished the 10k OSU Cross Country course in 174th place overall in the 237 runner field, clocking in at 32:36.7. Van Der Els put the final stamp on a senior season that saw him earn all-conference honors for the second-straight year when he finished fourth at the BIG EAST Championship race two weeks ago.
He helped lead the Huskies to a fourth place finish at the conference meet and a fourth place ranking in the USTFCCCA Northeast Regional poll.
At the national championship meet, Northern Arizona claimed the team title with 60 point to finish ahead of Notre Dame in second (87 points). BYU's Conner Mantz won the individual race championship.
