Diarmuid O'Connor and Travis Snyder Compete in Day 1 at Nationals in Eugene
2024 NCAA Track & Field Championships Final Results
EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Connecticut men's track & field athletes took on day one at the 2024 track & field championships in Eugene Wednesday.
Junior decathlete Diarmuid O'Connor had a strong start in the multis finishing in ninth place out of 24 athletes with a total score of 4,047 points after five events. O'Connor had a personal best in the decathlon shot put with a 13.99m mark placing ninth and two additional top-10 marks in the decathlon long jump and high jump.
Texas's Leo Neugebauer finished atop the leaderboard with 4,685 points placing first in three events.
Senior pole vaulter Travis Snyder took 20th place with a first flight mark of 5.07m.
O'Connor will continue tomorrow (Thursday, June 6) as well as the women's events with A'liyah Thomas performing in the long jump at 7 p.m. PT.
