Huskies Set for Busy Meet Weekend

UConn Northeast Challenge Schedule of Events  

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's and women's track and field teams get prepared for a busy weekend with a smaller squad heading to the Friar Invitational on Friday, April 12 and the home meet at the UConn Northeast Challenge for two days starting on Friday and ending on Saturday, April 13 with the senior day ceremony.  

Another successful weekend came about for the Huskies at the South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Fla. First-year Kyle Johnson won BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week for the men, along with other notable performances for both the men and women. There were seven additional marks that entered the top 10 all-time outdoor marks at UConn. Junior Mahamed Sharif took first in the men's 800 meters at the USF Invitational running a time of 1:49.99; which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST and is tied for 90th nationally. Junior A'liyah Thomas won the women's long jump at the USF Invitational with a final mark of 6.46m, the best mark in the BIG EAST this season and the 11th-best nationally. 

The start time on Friday for the Friar Invitational is at 4:45 p.m. ET and the start times for the Northeast Challenge are noon on Friday and 10:45 a.m. on Saturday with the senior day ceremony after the meet.
