Huskies Gear Up for Indoor Season at Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener
STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut track & field team kicks off the indoor season at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener this Saturday, Dec. 2, hosted by Boston University at the Track and Tennis Center in Boston. There will be six Huskies on the men's side competing in the meet.
Last year, the men finished the season with five-straight BIG EAST Championships through the indoor and outdoor season while the women won their fourth straight BIG EAST Championship through the indoor and outdoor season.
Additionally, senior Mahamed Sharif finished the indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 800 Meter Run. On top of that there were three indoor school records broken for the men.
Those competing in the Boston meet on Saturday are Sean Ahern, Kevin Cawley, Christopher Lepore, Alec Sauter, Mahamed Sharif, and Stephen Sutton. Ahern, Cawley, Lepore, and Sauter will all run in the 5,000 Meter Run. Cawley will also run in the 3,000 Meter Run.
Then, Sharif and Stephen Sutton will run in the 1 Mile Run.
The mile run begins at 11:07 a.m., with the 3,000 at 3:05 p.m., and the 5,000 at 6:25 p.m.
