O'Connor and Hense Receive Weekly BIG EAST Honors

STORRS, Conn.- Diarmuid O'Connor (Cork, Ireland) and Maresa Hense (Germany) have been respectively named BIG EAST Men's and Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

O'Connor set a new personal best in the decathlon on Saturday, winning the UConn Northeast Challenge in Storrs with 7,658 points. O'Connor secured top-2 finishes in all ten events. The junior now ranks first in the BIG EAST in the decathlon and 9th in the country.

Hense continued her standout freshman campaign at the Northeast Challenge, taking first place in the heptathlon with 5,733 points, the second-most points in UConn program history. The freshman from Germany took first place in five events, and now ranks first in the BIG EAST and 6th in the country in the heptathlon.

The Huskies return to action this week at the historic Penn Relays that kick off Thursday, April 24th.
