Anna Connors Breaks 300m Record at Battle in Beantown
BOSTON, Mass.- UConn track & field returned to action on Saturday in Boston, competing in the Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
Sophomore Anna Connors (Bangor, Maine) had a breakout performance, setting a new school record in the 300m with a time of 38.42. The Huskies had six event wins, and eight performances that ranked among the top 10 in program history in their respective events.
Director of Track & Field Beth Alford-Sullivan:
"A very good day in Boston for the Huskies. An outstanding new school record for Anna Connors in the 300m. We continued to get more comfortable in competitions and are looking forward to the 2nd half of January."
Men's Track:
- Mekhi Stone won the 300m with a time of 33.58
- Donovan Wright won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.18
- Wyatt Maulhardt ran the 5th fastest time in school history in the 300m (34.96)
Women's Track
- Anna Connors set a school record in the 300m with a time of 38.42, finishing in 3rdoverall
- Raquel Rosa ran the 7th fastest time in school history in the 300m (40.80)
- Harriet Barber was not far behind with the 8th fastest time in the 800m (41.03)
Men's Field
- Enaji Muhammed won the high jump (2.00m)
- Garrett McHeard had the top shot put throw (16.81m) for the second meet in a row
- Antonio Wiafe had the top long jump (7.19) on the afternoon
- Kyle Johnson secured the win in the triple jump (15.54m)
Women's Field
- Sinclaire Fryer won the shot put (14.42m)
- For the second consecutive week, Natalia Surdej won the weight throw (18.31m)
