Track & Field Set for Jesse Owens Classic This Weekend

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's and women's track and field teams prepare for the Jesse Owens Classic meet on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20.

For the two day competition, both programs will take on the challenge for another straight weekend. Last time out, the Huskies outperformed the competition with 34 top-five results, 10 first-place results, and five of those being personal records. Both teams finished first as the men ended with 129 points and the women had 161.5 points. 

Senior pole vaulter Travis Snyder went all out in his performance slashing an outdoor school record of 5.46m (17'11'). He placed first in the event. For the women, junior A'liyah Thomas pulled out a strong performance in both the long jump (1st, 6.46m) and in the 100-meter hurdles (13.54).

Start time on Friday is at 4:30 p.m. ET for the first track event and start time on Saturday is at 1 p.m. ET for the first track event.
