MSOC falls to LIU

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team (1-1) lost to the Long Island Sharks (2-1) on Friday night at Morrone Stadium.

LIU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute on a goal from Ben Assane Fall. The Sharks forward found himself through on goal off a Huskies passing error in their defensive half. Fall dribbled past the Huskies goalkeeper giving him the empty net finish and the lead.

UConn outshot the Sharks 7-4 in the first 45 minutes, but LIU was able to keep their lead going into the halftime break.

LIU doubled their lead in the 53rd minute on a goal by Emil Jaaskelainen. The Sharks first goal scorer, Fall played a pass to an open Jaaskelainen in front of the Huskies goal and the senior forward gave LIU a 2-0 lead.

UConn threw everything they had at LIU, generating ten shots in the final 30 minutes. The Huskies finished with 18 shots in the match but just could not find the back of the net.

UConn returns to action on Monday, September 4 as they welcome Siena to Morrone Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm. Tickets are available HERE.
