MSOC Takes Down Dartmouth, Remain Unbeaten This Season

HANOVER, N.H. – The UConn men's soccer team defeated the Dartmouth Big Green, 2-1 on Friday night at Burnham Field. The Huskies remain unbeaten this season at 5-0-1, going into BIG EAST play next week.

The match was very physical from the opening whistle as nine yellow cards and two red cards were issued in the match.

UConn opened the scoring in the 38th minute as senior captain, Guillaume Vacter got on the score sheet for just the second time in his career. The defender from Paris, France fired home a shot off a loose ball in the box from a corner kick, putting Huskies ahead 1-0.

Redshirt-Freshman Max Kerkvliet made two big saves in the first half to keep Dartmouth off the board. Kerkvliet finished with a career high seven saves in the match.

UConn went into the halftime break up a goal with shots in favor of Dartmouth, 8-3.

The Huskies doubled the lead just two minutes into the second half off the foot of Michael Suski. The graduate transfer capitalized off a Dartmouth error in the defense that put him through on goal. Suski now has two goals this season for the Huskies.

Dartmouth cut into the UConn lead in the 60th minute as Trenton Blake scored his third goal of the season for the Big Green, making it 2-1.

Dartmouth was shown a pair of red cards in a two minute span, the first going to Raphael Owusu who received his second yellow card of the game in the 77th minute.

The second red card came just two minutes later in the 79th minute as Panagiotis Karagiorgis received his second yellow, putting Dartmouth down to nine men for the final eleven minutes.
