No. 25 Huskies Open BIG EAST Play at DePaul Friday
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team (5-0-1) will open their BIG EAST slate on Friday, September 20 as the Huskies head to the DePaul Blue Demons. Kickoff is set for 3:00pm EST and will be streamed on FloFC.
UConn is coming into the conference opener riding a six game unbeaten streak to begin their season, their best start to a season since 2012. The Huskies hot start has launched them into the top 25 rankings for the first time since 2019.
UConn has scored 14 goals so far this season. The last time the Huskies had 14+ goals through the first six matches was the 2002 season (16). Redshirt-Freshman Sabri Hanni leads the Huskies with four goals this season. UConn has also received goal contributions from a pair of transfers in Michael Suski and Marco Valentic who have two goals each this season. Senior forward Scott Testori is the Huskies assist leader with four, matching his assist total from a season ago, ranking atop the BIG EAST. Testori led the Huskies in goals last year (8).
DePaul (2-3-1) is coming off a 2-3 loss to Mercyhurst last Friday. The Blue Demons are coached by Mark Plotkin who is in his seventh year at the helm. The last time these two programs met was in 2022 with the Huskies coming out on top, 1-0. The all-time series is knotted up 3-3.
