MSOC to Face St. John’s in Final Road Match of the Regular Season

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team heads to St. John's on Saturday, October 26 for their final road contest of the regular season. The Huskies are currently in third place in the BIG EAST East Division with ten points with two matches left in the regular season.

UConn (8-3-4) is coming off a 2-1 loss against Providence on Wednesday. The Huskies have relied on their defense all season long, only conceding ten goals through 15 matches, ranking 6th in the country in goal against average (0.667). Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Max Kerkvliet (Houston, TX) has had a strong start to his UConn career, posting a 0.828 save percentage, ranking seventh in the country. His seven clean sheets are the most among any freshman goalkeeper in the country.

St. John's (6-5-4) is coming off a 1-0 win at Seton Hall on Wednesday. The Red Storm are coached by David Masur, in his 38th season. St. John's possesses a potent offense as three players have four goals this season. The last time these two programs met was in the BIG EAST Quarterfinal a season ago with the Huskies coming out on top, 2-1 in overtime. UConn won both matchups against the Red Storm last season and have not lost to the Johnnies in Chris Gbandi's tenure.
