MSOC Falls to Providence

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team lost to the Providence Friars, 2-1 on Wednesday night at Morrone Stadium. The Huskies move to 3-2-1 in the BIG EAST and 8-3-4 overall.

The first 45 minutes were scoreless with Providence leading in shots 8-4 going into the half. 

Providence opened the scoring in the 68th minute off the foot of Israel Dos Santos Neto, his first of the season, putting the Friars ahead 1-0. 

UConn found an equalizer just four minutes later in the 72nd minute off a free kick. Sophomore defender Mikah Thomas scored a stunning scissor kick volley tucked into the top left corner, the first of his career. Sophomore midfielder Max Gummesson played a ball that found Thomas at the back post, and Thomas finished brilliantly, putting the Huskies level at 1-1. 

Providence found a late game winner in the 81st minute as Aidan Davock scored his fourth goal of the season, giving the Friars their third conference win of the season. UConn has not conceded more than one goal in a match since September 20th at DePaul.

UConn returns to action on Saturday, October 26th as the Huskies head to Queens for a matchup with the St. John's Red Storm. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
