Huskies Host No. 13 Akron on Senior Day

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team will close out their regular season slate on Saturday, November 2 as the Huskies will host the No. 13 ranked Akron Zips on senior day. Kickoff is set for 2:00pm. Tickets are available HERE.

UConn (8-3-5) is coming off a 1-1 draw at St. John's last Saturday, clinching a spot in the 2024 BIG EAST Tournament. The Huskies are currently 3-2-2 in conference play giving them 11 points going into the regular season finale. The Huskies can finish as the #5, #6, or #7 seed depending on Saturday's results and other results around the league. 

UConn has been led offensively this season by senior forward Scott Testori (Madison, Conn.). Testori has 12 points this season, recording four goals and four assists. 

Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Max Kerkvliet (Houston, TX) has been stout this season in between the posts for the Huskies. Kerkvliet has only conceded 11 goals this season, with seven clean sheets, ranking atop the conference in shutouts and save percentage (0.828). 

No. 13 Akron (10-3-3) is coming off a 3-0 win at Marquette last Saturday, securing the BIG EAST regular season title. The Zips have yet to lose a conference game this season, boasting a perfect 7-0 record. Akron is coached by Jared Embick in his 12th season. The Zips have been led by senior forward Emil Jaaskelainen who leads the nation with 18 goals this season. 

The last time these two programs met was in the third round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament as the Zips and the No. 4 Huskies battled to a 3-3 draw, sending the game to penalty kicks where Akron came out on top, 4-3 (Nov. 27, 2005).
