No. 24 Huskies Settle for Scoreless Draw vs. Fairfield

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 24 ranked UConn men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against Fairfield on Tuesday night. The Huskies now move to 6-0-2 on the year, remaining unbeaten.

Fairfield got the first great chance of the game just 45 seconds into the match as Stags forward Alex Marin intercepted a UConn pass in their defensive third, putting Marin in on goal. UConn defender Alex Tupay was able to partially deflect Marin's shot on goal making it an easy save for UConn's Max Kerkvliet. The save was Kerkvliet's lone of the night, as the redshirt-freshman earned his second career shutout.

UConn's lone shot on goal in the first half came from Sabri Hanni in the 9th minute as the redshirt-freshman put a free kick from 25 yards out on frame but was saved by Fairfield's Viktor Nikolov. Shots were in favor of UConn, 5-1 going into the half.

Sophomore defender Mikah Thomas had the Huskies best chance of the night in the 58th minute. Thomas had two shots on goal, both within the six yard box, the first coming from a back post header that was denied by Nikolov. Thomas was able to get his own rebound but his follow up hit off the unluckily off the post, allowing Nikolov to gather the ball.
