MSOC meets Georgetown in BIG EAST semifinal

BOYDS, MD. – The UConn men's soccer team (9-7-1) takes on the overall no. 1 seeded Georgetown Hoyas in the BIG EAST semifinal on Thursday, November 9 at 6:30pm at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The match will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports. Tickets are available HERE.

The Huskies are coming into the semifinals after a thrilling 2-1 win in the quarterfinals over St. John's. Sophomore forward Eli Conway scored the game winner in the second overtime, to lift the Huskies to their first BIG EAST Tournament win since 2012. UConn is chasing their first BIG EAST Tournament title since 2007. 

The Huskies have had success on the offensive end this season ranking 19th in the country in shots per game with 14.82. UConn's leading goal scorer Scott Testori has found the back of the net eight times this season, adding four assists to his breakout junior season. He scored the Huskies first goal against St. John's last weekend. 

Kieran Chandler was named BIG EAST Co-Freshman of the Year, becoming the eleventh player in program history to earn the honor. Nicolas Tomerius was selected to the second team while Pierce Bateson, Chandler, and Testori earned third team honors. 

UConn lost the regular season matchup with Georgetown, 3-0 in Washington, DC. The Hoyas (12-2-2) are coming off a win over Seton Hall in the quarterfinal. Georgetown comes into the tournament as the no. 1 seed for the fifth straight year.
