MSOC receives four all-conference honors, Chandler Co-Freshman of the Year

NEW YORK – The UConn men's soccer team had four Huskies earn All-BIG EAST honors on Tuesday afternoon. Defender Kieran Chandler was named 2023 Co-Freshman of the Year honors. 

Kieran Chandler becomes the eleventh player in program history to receive Freshman of the Year honors. The Simsbury, Connecticut native has been a key piece to the 2023 roster appearing in sixteen out of seventeen matches this season with thirteen starts. From the left back position, he has tallied two goals and four assists in 1,049 minutes played. 

Nicolas Tomerius earned All-BIG EAST second team honors. The sophomore midfielder has been a playmaker for the Huskies this season recording seven assists which ranks second in the BIG EAST this season. Tomerius has appeared in all seventeen matches this season. 

A trio of Huskies were named to the All-BIG EAST third team in Scott Testori, Pierce Bateson, and Chandler. Testori leads the Huskies this season with 20 points this season, scoring a season high eight goals with four assists. Bateson has played a key role in the Huskies midfield this season, appearing in all seventeen matches, tallying three goals and four assists. 

The Huskies season continues Thursday in the BIG EAST Semifinals against the no. 1 seeded Georgetown Hoyas at 6:30pm at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The game will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
