MSOC Hosts Providence on Wednesday Night

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team welcomes the Providence Friars to Morrone Stadium on Wednesday, October 23. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm. Tickets are available HERE.

UConn (8-2-4) is coming off a 1-0 win at Butler over the weekend. The Huskies are currently in second place on ten points in the East Division of the BIG EAST with a 3-1-1 record. 

UConn's defense has been stout all season long, as the Huskies rank 4th in the country in team goals against average (0.615), and 22nd in shutout percentage (0.462). Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Max Kerkvliet has played a big part in UConn's success defensively this season. The Houston, Texas native has seven clean sheets this season, the most of any freshman goalkeeper in the country. Kerkvliet ranks in the top ten nationally in save percentage (0.846), and goals against average (0.615). 

Junior forward Eli Conway leads the Huskies with eleven points this season. The New Jersey native has a season high four goals this season with three assists. 

Providence (7-4-3) is coming off a 1-1 draw at St. John's last Saturday. The Friars currently sit in third place in the East Division standings on eight points (2-1-2). Providence is coached by Craig Stewart in his 13th season. The Friars are led by junior forward Bruno Rosa with a team high 12 points this season. UConn leads the all-time series 24-8-2, but Providence has had UConn's number recently, winning four out of the last five matchups.
