No. 25 Huskies Complete Second Half Comeback at DePaul

CHICAGO, ILL. – The No. 25 ranked UConn men's soccer team defeated the DePaul Blue Demons, 3-2 on Friday afternoon at Wish Field. The Huskies scored three goals in the second half, coming from behind to earn three points to open BIG EAST play. 

DePaul jumped out to an early lead as Nolan McGuire scored his first goal of the season, putting the Blue Demons ahead, 1-0.  

DePaul continued to mount pressure in the first half, making UConn's goalkeeper Max Kerkvliet make three saves in the opening 45 minutes. Kervliet finished the game with five saves. 

UConn went into the halftime break trailing 1-0 with shots favoring the Blue Demons, 10-3.

The Huskies came out firing in the second half, scoring three goals, all coming from junior forward, Eli Conway. The Mount Olive, New Jersey native tied the game at one in the 51st minute, heading home a beautiful cross from Mikah Thomas

DePaul regained the lead in the 68th minute off the head of Keagan Pace, making it 2-1. The Huskies responded right away as Conway found the back of the net just 37 seconds after the Blue Demons goal, netting his brace and second equalizer of the game. 

Conway got his hat trick in the 73rd minute as he beautifully bent in a left footed shot into the far corner from 25 yards out, giving UConn their first lead of the game.
