»The UConn Huskies are set for a New Years Eve showdown against Harvard at the Toscano Family Ice Forum.
» The Huskies are coming off a 1-1 weekend to end the first half of the season. UConn shutout UMass Lowell at home 2-0 before falling to #11 Maine 7-3.
» UConn will be without their top scorer in Matthew Wood as he is with Team Canada at World Juniors. Wood is the 6th Husky under Head Coach Mike Cavanaugh to play in the prestigious tournament, and the first to play for Team Canada.
» This will be the second year in a row that the Huskies have played on New Years Eve, Last season, UConn welcomed and defeated LIU by a final of 5-3 on New Years Eve.
» This will be the second matchup all time between UConn and Harvard. The first meeting was at Harvard during the 21-22 season where UConn fell to the Crimson by a final of 6-3
» UConn's penalty kill continues to impress, ranking in the top 10 in the NCAA with an 85.3% penalty kill » With sophomore Matthew Wood away from the team, UConn will look elsewhere for offense. Junior Chase Bradley is primed to step up having already totaled 6 goals and 5 assists for 11 points. The Huskies will also look for production from their other underclassmen. 7 of the 15 goal scorers this year for UConn have come from underclassmen.
» While captain Hudson Schandor has not consistently found the back of the net, the senior has made an impact in other areas. Schandor currently leads the team with 10 assists and sits second in total points with 11 and has won 52% of his faceoffs.
