Huskies set for Two Game Roadtrip at #5 Maine

» The Huskies hit the road again as they travel north for a two-game road trip against the

no.5 Maine Blackbears.

» The Huskies are coming off their first Hockey East sweep of the season as they took

down no.17 New Hampshire last weekend. UConn opened the home and home series

with a 4-1 win at New Hampshire before securing the sweep at home behind a 3-2 victory.

» Junior Tyler Muszelik returned to action and split the weekend with freshman Callum

Tung. Muszelik made 27 saves in a 4-1 victory in his return to action while Tung made

26 saves in a 3-2 victory.

» The last time these two faced off resulted in a weekend split. Maine came from behind

to win 5-3, while UConn shutout the Blackbears in game two at the XL center breaking

Maine's 9 game unbeaten streak.

» Graduate Student Hudson Schandor has been hot to start the second half. The captain

currently has a point 10 of the last 11 games, and recently surpassed the 100-career point

mark sitting at 103 total points following a 5-point weekend vs. UNH.

» The Huskies now have eight skaters in double digits for total points. Sophomore Joey

Muldowney (18) leads the way tied with Hudson Schandor (18), followed by Ryan

Tattle (15), Jake Richard (15), Jake Percival (12), Tabor Heaslip (12), and then freshman

Ethan Gardula and Trey Scott round out the group with 10 points each.

» Short Handed Strengths: The Huskies are currently lead the country with 7 short handed

goals scored. UConn scored two shorthanded goals this past weekend vs. New Hamp-

shire.

» Huskies in the NHL: Marc Gatcomb has become the 9th Husky to reach the pros, hav-

ing most recently been called up by the New York Islanders. Gatcomb joins, Chase

Bradley, Ruslan Iskhakov, Yan Kuznetsov, Todd Krygier, Cole Schneider, Max Letunov,

Adam Huska, and Tage Thompson as former Huskies to make it to the league.
